GWB speech on economy

That was a horrible speech. Said something about normally not stepping in cuz he believes companies/institutions should go out of business for making bad decisions, believes in free enterprise so he doesn't want gov't intervention.... whatever, normal circumstances, emergency, it's all garbage. We've been alright these last few months and weeks so we really don't need the gov't to intervene with this 'bail out.' Lame.

I thought it was really lame how GWB has violated the "bail out" principle before many times, for example, when he helped bail out airlines, bail out housing "crisis," when he helped bail out farmers... subsidies are about the same as bailing out and these happen all of the time. GWB isn't the only one "bailing out" companies/organizations. What's the point of free market if you're just going to intervene on a regular basis AND then lie when a big problem is occuring and needs gov't intervention, sure, needs ..... it is no longer a true free market. Look at the economy, it is the result of governments' bad decisions in combination with companies who failed themselves, along with problems all over the globe. Then Big Ben Bernanke lowered interest rates, which really haven't improved much, he and GWB decide to give out tax rebates, which didn't really improve much either, then we're in this mess. Stimulate the economy with something else... don't intervene so much. All of this speculation about the US having another great depression is exageration. The banks and financial institutions screwed up. Look at all of the food and cars and beer and laptops and other junk, along with ice cream shops and candy and Walmarts.... Does it really look like there is a depression? Come on, they're exagerating... you know why, cuz we still get gas, eat, work, do the same thing we've done every other day, we're not starving, we don't have rations, we're not going to have rations, we're not going to starve. We are not living in those Hoover Houses or whatever they called them. This whole thing has gotta be some political stunt just like us going to Iraq was. The gov't bailing out with $700 billion isn't going to do anything for the 'people. ' All of these 'plans' the current adminstration comes up with seem to not work... they suck. If we were to have anything like a Great Depression again it would be much worse than what we are dealing with today. We wouldn't have electricity, maybe not even running water, no job to go to, self-propelled transportation, etc. GWB's speech sucked. Really pathetic.

the dollar will continue to decline under our current financial system. setting prices with this bailout will only prolong the market until it happens again because of the deficit and deflation - more money in the system, yet your crap is worth less. buy your luxury items now while the dollar is still worth something.
